"Good staffing, training and friendly culture with strong safety systems, but managers slow to fix problems spotted in quality checks and irregular staff supervisions."
Systems for reporting and acting on concerns or allegations were robust... People's medicines were stored, administered, recorded and audited appropriately... Staff understood the importance of reporting and recording accidents and incidents and lessons were learnt.
Staff told us they worked in an open and friendly culture. One staff member told us, 'I do really enjoy my work here... We are well supported by the managers and there is a friendly teamwork approach from all staff.'
The staff rotas we inspected demonstrated there were appropriate staffing levels in place to meet people's assessed needs and relatives confirmed this with us.
Staff received a wide range of appropriate training in various topics and specialised areas such as behaviour support awareness, communication, dementia awareness and person centred working.
The provider had good quality assurance systems in place however some areas of need identified in these audits were not always addressed as was required in the provider's own guidelines.
Staff supported and encouraged people to pursue hobbies and interests... for example, some people regularly attend social clubs... Other activities people enjoyed included, arts and crafts, shopping trips, visiting family and friends and planning for and going on holidays.
Managers do quality checks but don't always act quickly on the problems they spot.

Just basic activities like arts and crafts, outings, and social clubs, no special programmes to make the job more interesting.
