People’s health risks were mostly well managed, however we found that pressure relieving equipment, such as pressure relieving mattresses, were not always set to the correct setting for people’s weights. This was addressed and actioned by the registered manager.
There was a positive culture amongst staff and staff told us they felt supported by the registered manager. Staff told us they felt comfortable to raise concerns and felt their concerns would be listened to acted upon.
The registered manager used a dependency tool to ensure there were enough staff to support people and on the day of inspection we observed there to be enough staff. We received mixed feedback from people and relatives in relation to staffing numbers.
Staff had completed training that was relevant to their role so they could support people safely. For example, staff had completed manual handling training to ensure they could support people safely with their mobility.
Staff told us they felt supported by the registered manager. The registered manager carried out ‘walks arounds’ in the service and came in early to ensure they could speak with the night staff and not just day staff.
Per 2019 comprehensive inspection: The provider employed an activity coordinator who planned and facilitated a number of group and individual social activities. There were activities such as fan making, quiz, singalong, word search, colouring, memory photos, singer and crafts.
Staffing is adequate with enough staff most days, but mixed feedback means sometimes staff are busy and people have to wait.
We received mixed feedback from people and relatives in relation to staffing numbers, one person told us, ‘I normally don’t have to wait too long, but sometimes they are busy.’
Some safety equipment like pressure mattresses was not set right for everyone's weight, even though fixed quickly.
