Safeguarding referrals were not always made when there were concerns about potential abuse or neglect. Improvements were needed to medicine management. We observed the medicines trolley was not always locked when it was left unattended.
Most of the staff told us they felt supported by the current management team. Staff told us they had plenty of opportunities to give feedback and were confident their views and opinions were valued.
People and relatives told us they thought there were enough staff to support their needs. We observed enough staff to support people. One staff member told us, “There are enough staff on duty, you don’t feel rushed all the time”.
Staff received an induction and regular training which included mandatory training. The provider training matrix showed staff compliance with mandatory areas of training.
Quality assurance systems had failed to identify many of the concerns raised by our assessment. The provider was in breach of regulation 17 good governance.
There was little evidence of how people’s individual interests and wishes had been considered in the provision of activities in some cases. Records showed these people were left without activities and engagement for many hours each day.
