Working at Goodwood Orchard Care Home

The service had a proactive and positive culture of safety, based on openness and honesty. They listened to concerns about safety and investigated and reported safety events. Medicines were managed safely.

Staff are kind and caring and I have seen that the managers are kind to their staff. There is jokey banter and good relationships. Staff described good teamwork and a respectful culture.

The service made sure there were enough qualified, skilled and experienced staff, who received effective support, supervision and development. A relative told us, “I think there are enough staff now; they all seem better trained now and work hard to look after people.”

Care staff and training records confirmed staff had received medication administration training and had their competency assessed on a regular basis. The registered manager acted on concerns by retraining staff.

The manager is very approachable, friendly and accessible; a lovely person and very hands on. Staff felt supported and guided in their role.
