Medicines were managed safely and staff had a good knowledge... staff had been recruited safely... Staff received training on safeguarding adults from abuse... Accidents and incidents were responded to appropriately and monitored.
There was a positive caring culture within the service... Staff told us they felt recent concerns regarding staff team morale were improving... Care staff told us that staff moral had been low recently but they felt that this had started to improve.
The home had struggled over the last year to recruit care staff and had utilised agency staff to cover vacant posts. At the time of the inspection all vacant posts had been recruited to and we observed sufficient staffing was available.
New staff were supported to understand their role through a structured induction. Following induction, all staff entered an on-going programme of training... The staff we spoke with were positive about the training provided. Records showed staff received supervision.
People were positive about the registered manager. Comments included, 'We can go to [name of registered manager] whenever.' The registered manager was very open and honest during the inspection in relation to staff morale.
The service had staff and volunteers in place to support people to access activities... Weekly activities supported by volunteers included IT class, Art class, supported college attendance, knitting, one to one time and church attendance.
They had trouble hiring staff and used agency workers last year, but now shifts are filled.
