There was not always a proactive and positive culture of safety based on openness and honesty. For example, staff had not always reported incidents to managers.

People, relatives and staff did not always feel there were enough qualified, skilled and experienced staff. One staff member said, “There’s not enough of us. The care would be better if there were more of us.”

Some staff told us they had not received individual supervision with a senior staff member for over 1 year. Others did not feel supported by the management team on a day-to-day basis.

People and relatives told us there were not always enough meaningful activities for people. Comments included, “There are very few activities” and “What could be improved is to have more entertainment.”
