"Outstanding personalised activities programme and a proud, supportive team with excellent training and enough staff."
People were safe... good systems for monitoring risk... staff had a very good knowledge about how to identify risks and report concerns... Medicines audited regularly... Accidents and incidents recorded and analysed for learning.
Staff told us they loved their work... 'Proud of staff, manager, the team, they support each other...' 'Never ever been treated like that in places I've worked before.' 'Proud to be part of the team, all of Fernhill.'
Throughout the inspection, we saw there were enough staff available to meet people's needs... People, relatives and staff all told us there were enough staff on duty to meet their needs. We saw staff had enough time to sit and talk to people.
Staff training covered those areas... and additional training... For example, staff completed dementia care training... Staff became 'Dementia Friends'... Regular supervision sessions... Champions led on continence and tissue viability.
Staff commented that it was the best place they had worked and wanted their loved ones to move in; 'What they had learnt at Fernhill is that... they wouldn't be scared to get dementia if they were somewhere like here.'
Outstanding comprehensive programme of often unique and personalised activities... four dedicated staff... Companionship Team... Resident of the Day scheme... Gaming Technology Hub with Bournemouth University... wishes made come true... school visits, choir, allotment.
