"Supportive management, stable staffing and strong safety practices, although limited activities leave some people bored."
Everyone we spoke with said they felt safe. Risk assessments were regularly reviewed. Medicines were managed safely with protocols and audits. Incidents were discussed in staff meetings.
Staff we spoke with said, 'I would not hesitate to speak to my manager if I was worried about anything.' One member of staff said, 'They treat me for who I am. I really enjoy my role.' There was an open and transparent culture.
We saw staff who worked at the service were a well-established and long-standing team. People and staff told us they felt there was enough staff.
Staff had completed thorough training and supervisions. Where specific training was required to support people, this was completed for staff. For example, one person had epilepsy and staff had received training.
People, relatives and staff were very complementary about the management. One person said, 'They have a laugh with me and if I was not happy I could tell them.' One member of staff said, 'They treat me for who I am. I really enjoy my role.'
People said staff listened to them and engaged in activities in and out of the service such as baking cakes, bus trips to the bank and city centre visits.
Some people get bored needing more activities, without a dedicated coordinator the role is basic outings and baking beyond routine care.
One comment stated more activities as [name of person] can get bored. This was addressed and actioned straight away.
