Concerns about safety and safeguarding were recorded, listened to, investigated... Staff had received training in how to safeguard people... Records showed the service had made safeguarding alerts to the local authority... However, an improvement was needed in the process for giving controlled medicines... action was taken quickly.
A staff member told us, “The company is very good to work for, like a second family to me. Everyone is very supportive, and management are very approachable. I am very happy to come to work every day.” Another said, “...good atmosphere with staff, everyone gets along great.”
People told us there were enough staff to provide the care and support they required. On the day of our assessment, we found there was enough staff present to support people safely. There were some gaps in people’s employment history which were unaccounted for.
Staff were supported to complete nationally recognized training such as the care certificate or diplomas in social care. Staff had support, supervision and staff meetings to share learning and review performance. Training for staff had been updated in safeguarding and continence care.
The registered manager was approachable, open, and inclusive and managed the service well. Staff feedback about working at the service was positive. They told us they felt supported and listened to by the management team.
The gardening club is popular as is our extensive activity programme and, going out to places of interest in our own transport. Staff were attentive... such as the morning exercise class... Specific events such as cultural days were held.
