Although improvements had been made with medicines practice since our last assessment, medicines management records required further improvements. For example, where people had been given their medicines, there were occasional missed signatures in the records.
Staff told us they felt supported and valued in their roles. Staff said they felt their views were valued and any suggestions they had would be considered and acted upon.
We checked rotas and found there were enough staff to meet people’s needs. Some relatives thought the service would benefit from more staff, although many relatives said that staff seemed well trained.
Staff completed training relevant to their roles and participated in supervision sessions with the registered manager. Managers made sure staff received training and regular appraisals.
Leaders were visible, knowledgeable and supportive, helping staff develop in their roles. Staff told us that morale was continuing to improve following several management changes.
There was a dedicated activities co-ordinator who was employed on a full-time basis. This meant people were supported to participate in a range of activities both inside and outside of the home such as music groups and singing.
