"Staff receive strong training and supervision in a positive team culture, but high staff turnover and no registered manager in post are concerns."
Improvements were found at this assessment and the provider was no longer in breach of this regulation. The provider had a proactive and positive culture of safety, based on openness and honesty. Staff listened to concerns about safety and investigated and reported safety events.
Staff told us they enjoyed working at the service and felt supported by the manager. Conversations with the manager and staff confirmed they upheld these values and worked together as a team.
Agency staff were not used. On the whole people felt there were enough staff to support them and our observations during the inspection found staff responded to people’s requests for help quickly and respectfully. There has been quite a large turnover of staff.
Staff completed a variety of training, both face-to-face and on-line and received regular supervision. Training requirements were discussed in team meetings, and any additional specialised training was provided when needed. Staff spoke positively about the training they had received.
At the time of this assessment the service did not have a registered manager in post. However, the provider’s regional manager had taken over the day to day running of the service and had submitted an application to re-register with CQC.
The service operated a ‘resident of the day’ scheme which aimed to improve person-centred care at the home and gave staff the opportunity to focus on each individual person. People were regularly asked their opinion on the quality of the food and activities.
No permanent manager in post right now, even though one is applying to register.

Staff turnover has been quite high recently, even with enough staff on shifts and no agency use.
There has been quite a large turnover of staff, but I find the staff to be caring and helpful.
No activities coordinator or special programmes mentioned, so the role is mostly routine personal care.
