Creams stored where people with dementia could reach them and some safety concerns not reported outside the home.

We found topical medicines were not stored safely some of which were accessible and unsecured in people’s bedrooms... the registered manager did not always report safeguarding concerns to the local authority or CQC.

The manager does not always know the rules for reporting incidents, so problems are not overseen or fixed well.

The registered manager was not always aware of their regulatory requirements, which meant incidents were not always reported. There was poor management oversight at the service.

Staff say some shifts do not have enough people, making it hard when residents need help.

a staff member we spoke with said, “We definitely need more staff, it’s hard when people need you,” however, another staff member we spoke with said, “Staffing is not an issue here.”
