The provider had a proactive and positive culture of safety, based on openness and honesty. Accidents and incidents were monitored to ensure lessons were learnt to identify and embed good practice.
Staff were eager to share their feedback with us and felt a real sense of ownership over a service they were proud to work at. One member of staff said, “It's a great place to work... we are a family.”
The provider made sure there were enough qualified, skilled and experienced staff... However, relatives and staff told us staff were sometimes pressured in their roles and felt additional staff would be useful.
Regular and relevant training took place, which staff said was useful. One member of staff said, “We have continuous online and in-house training that we are always encouraged to complete, and regular growth conversations.”
Leaders were visible, knowledgeable and supportive, helping staff develop in their roles. Effective systems were in place to monitor and improve standards at the service.
They also said the service provided lots of interesting activities to keep people physically and mentally active, and we saw people enjoying these when we visited. People were supported to access a range of activities based on their interests.
