Medicines were mainly managed safely however some improvements were required. Temperature monitoring where medicines were stored was not always completed in line with national guidance.
All staff we spoke to told us they enjoyed their jobs and felt supported both professionally and personally by the management team on site.
Most people, their relatives and staff told us they felt there were sufficient staff numbers. A staff member told us, ‘We always have enough staff on.’
Staff undertook training to support their roles, and the management team undertook regular observations of practice to assess the competency of their staff.

We observed activities taking place in the home during the day and the home had a daily schedule of events taking place. People’s views on activities available were mixed, some people told us they felt they had enough to do and enjoyed the events which took place within the home. Some people who resided upstairs at the service told us they would like more to do.
Some gaps in medicine storage like untidy rooms and missing temperature checks, plus no guides for as-needed meds or cream application sites.
Drug trolleys were organised, however, treatment rooms where medicines were stored were untidy and in need of organisation. Overflow medicines were not stored appropriately. Temperature monitoring where medicines were stored was not always completed in line with national guidance... People that were prescribed as and when needed (PRN) medicines did not always have accompanying protocols in place... No body maps were in place.
