Working at Dalkeith

Whilst initial training was recorded, follow up staff competency checks, to check staff medication management practices remained safe, were not recorded.

Staff responded promptly to peoples' calls for help and support. They told us they were sufficiently staffed to ensure people's needs were met.

Staff received supervision on a regular basis. Refresher and update training was planned, and records were maintained. Staff told us how they were also encouraged to gain qualifications in care.

People, relatives, staff and health professionals were very complimentary about the management of the home. They felt the management team were approachable, open and effective in their roles.

The weekly activity programme included 'music and movement' 'armchair exercises' and reminiscence sessions. People were also provided with opportunities for 'one to one' activities with staff.
