There were effective systems, processes and practices to ensure people were safe from risk of harm and abuse. Staff knew the risks to people well and told us they were kept up to date if there had been any changes to risk assessments.
Staff told us, “It’s a Good organisation to work for” and described how the registered manager had provided effective support during extended periods of absence.
Rotas showed the service was well staffed and that planned staffing levels were routinely achieved. Staff and the registered manager reported that the service was normally well staffed.
Staff were encouraged and supported to engage with additional training and career development. One staff member was currently training for a nursing degree and all staff were supported to complete diploma level qualifications in care.
Staff were complimentary in how the managers listened to their views and experiences. Comments included, "The manager is really supportive, really helpful if you have a problem she listens, as a manager she ticks a lot of boxes".
There were no fixed schedules of activities, instead people were asked each day what they would like to do. On the day of the site visit people went out shopping, some watched movies and others were involved in individual activities of their choosing.
