Risk assessments had been completed to guide staff how to support people safely, however these were not always followed in practice.
Staff were positive about how they were involved and engaged at the service. They told us they had the opportunity to feedback about the service in supervisions and staff meetings.
There had been a large change in the staff team recently and some staff were still getting to know people. This had impacted on people's social engagement and ability to take part in their preferred past times.
Staff had training in areas relevant to their job role, including specific training in supporting people living with dementia or a learning disability. Staff had a good understanding of the subjects they were trained in.
Audits were effective in picking up where improvements were needed in areas such as health and safety checks or medication. However, they had failed to pick up on areas for improvement we identified at this inspection.
People were left for long periods of time without speaking to other people or staff increasing the risk of social isolation or boredom. Staff did not support people to take part in their preferred past times whilst they were at home.
No activities programme or engagement with residents' interests, so the role is mostly routine personal care like helping with washing and meals.
Daily notes consisted of when people were supported with personal care and what they had eaten, with no indication of how social pastimes or interests had been explored.
Big staff changes with lots of new team members still getting to know residents, so shifts include extra time for training and less social support.
