Medicines were not always safely managed... application sites of medicated patches for Parkinsons not being rotated in line with guidance... Controlled drugs were not disposed of in line with guidance... single use destruction kits... used multiple times.
Staff told us they felt supported... There was a positive and inclusive culture at the service... staff expressed they were happy. A staff member commented, “I love it. I am very happy here.”
Safe and effective staffing Score:1 ... The way in which the staff were deployed was not always safe and effective. This was a continuing breach of Regulation 18 (staffing).
Staff were given induction, and training and were competency assessed to handle medicines safely. They told us they received further external training in complex areas of medicines and care management such as epilepsy, Parkinson’s and end of life care.
There was no registered manager at the time of our assessment. However, the manager had applied to be registered with CQC.
The provider employed an activities coordinator who planned and facilitated activities... therapy dog... celebrations for special events... priest comes in regularly... staff took people... to local shops, cafes and parks.
