The provider had a proactive and positive culture of safety, based on openness and honesty. The registered manager had good oversight of accidents and incidents and did an analysis weekly, but areas of improvements were identified for some of the environment.
Staff told us they felt supported by the management team, and they were flexible to support their individual needs. Staff told us, 'Clifden is very good, I like it, and they will support, if you need more help they will be there.'
We observed sufficient staffing numbers on both days of the inspection. The registered manager carried out dependency assessment checks based on staffing levels and people's needs to ensure there was enough staff on each shift.
Staff received a comprehensive induction and training programme, and were confident with the level of training they had received. Staff told us supervisions are monthly.

Feedback from relatives was positive about the range of activities that were available. One relative told us how their loved one enjoyed the activities at Clifden, and their well-being had improved. People were supported to go to the shops each day, or the pub, dementia cafe, singer visits.
