During our assessment we identified medicines that had expired were in use... some fire doors were ill fitting or propped open and some radiators were exposed... some areas of the environment could not be cleaned properly.
Staff described a positive culture of openness across the service. Staff were confident their opinions and views would be listened to and acted upon where necessary. One staff member said, “Managers are so nice, they make it easy for us to approach them about anything that is on our mind.”
The service made sure there were enough qualified, skilled and experienced staff... Staff told us they were given time to get to know people and were able to access training and support as required.
Staff had undertaken training in how to support autistic people and people living with a learning disability. Staff told us they were supported and encouraged to gain further qualifications.
All staff we spoke with told us the management team were available to speak with them, and approachable always. The registered manager modelled the behaviours they wanted in their team, often supporting people alongside staff.
People all have personalised weekly activities. I think it helps they have enough staff to do that and it’s amazing what they are doing with them. Activities are planned to follow their interests and what they like doing.
