Gaps in key training for some staff, like end of life care where over half of care staff are not up to date.

we found not all staff were up to date with their training in palliative and end of life care. We found 40% (2 out of 5) of senior staff and 61% (11 out of 18) of caring staff were not up to date with their training.

Some risks not managed well, like toiletries left out where people could eat them and missing pressure cushions.

Items such as aerosols, shower gels and creams were not always stored safely. One person had been observed trying to eat these items... People weren’t always provided with pressure relieving cushions.

Adequate staffing levels but relies on some agency staff and has vacancies.

The service attempted to request the same agency staff to provide continuity of care for people. There were 3 vacancies available at the care home.
