Staff told us of a supportive management team who encouraged a positive work life balance. All staff told us they felt supported to achieve a positive work life balance.
There were not enough care staff on shift to support people. This was a particular issue during the morning and early afternoon shift. Staff told us that only 3 care staff at these times were not enough to meet people’s needs.
Staff had been trained in mental capacity and dementia, but some could not recall all the detail of this training. A relative highlighted that they felt dementia training should be prioritised and updated.
The service had been without a registered manager for 3 and a half years at the time of this assessment. The service was being overseen by the manager of the service’s sister home, and they split their time across the 2 homes.
