"Staff feel well-supported by an approachable manager and safety practices are strong, but staffing is adequate and activities lack a dedicated coordinator."
All staff working at the service understood their responsibilities around identifying and reporting their concerns... People's care plans contained risk assessments... Safe medicine administration and management systems... audited... All accidents and incidents had been documented... discussion with the staff team... to prevent any future re-occurrences.
Care staff told us that they felt well-supported... Regular staff meetings took place... Care staff told us that they found the meetings helpful and felt confident to give ideas and suggestions and that these were acknowledged and listened to.
We observed there to be sufficient numbers of staff available to support people safely. The registered manager explained that staffing levels could be adjusted, when required, to meet people's individualised needs.
Newly appointed care staff received an induction... care staff were asked to attend further training in topics which included moving and handling, first aid, safeguarding, The Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS). Care staff told us and records confirmed that training was refreshed on a regular basis. We saw records documenting regular supervisions and annual appraisals.
Care staff told us that they felt well-supported in their role and that the registered manager was available to address any concerns or issues that they may have. One care staff member told us, 'She [registered manager] is approachable, she listens and I can raise concerns. I can trust her and she is easy to work with.'
People were supported to engage and take part in activities and outings that were of personal interest... eating out, shopping, visiting places of interest, going to the cinema, arts and craft and annual holidays... activity folder with photographic evidence.
Staffing is adequate but nothing special, with no details on low staff turnover or minimal agency use.
We observed there to be sufficient numbers of staff available to support people safely.
Activities include outings and crafts but no dedicated coordinator or specialist therapeutic programmes.
People were supported to engage and take part in activities and outings... eating out, shopping... arts and craft and annual holidays.
