Working at Byron Lodge

Risks to people had been identified and actions developed to minimise these risks. There were good systems and procedures in place to help ensure people and their finances were safe at Byron Lodge.

Staff we spoke with said there was sufficient staff on duty at all times. During both days of our inspection we saw the staffing levels were adequate to support people's assessed needs.

From the training matrix we saw all staff completed service-specific training around acquired brain injury (ABI), deaf awareness and managing challenging behaviour. Staff received training on topics such as safeguarding, fire safety, person-centred planning and mental capacity.

People engaged in activities and events that were meaningful and personalised. Activities included playing snooker, bingo and watching football at the local pub, trips to Blackpool Zoo and Chester, and on-site gym use.
