Risks to people were minimised where possible. Risk assessments were carried out and control measures were in place where appropriate. The registered manager monitored incidents and accidents at the home and took action to prevent re-occurrence.
Staff morale was good which led to a happy environment for people to live in. There were a number of long-standing staff and newer staff told us it was a lovely team to join. One member of staff said, 'Teamwork is really good. Everyone helps everyone.'
There were adequate numbers of staff to keep people safe and to meet their needs. On the day of the inspection we saw people who requested support received it promptly.
People were supported by staff who had received a thorough induction when they began work. Staff received training to help them to provide care in line with up to date guidance and legislation.
The registered manager and deputy were very visible in the home which enabled them to constantly monitor practice and seek people's views. People knew who the registered manager was and we saw people speaking with them throughout the day.
People had access to a wide range of social stimulation and activities. There was a very active activities programme which took account of people's interests and hobbies. People had recently been involved in a community project called 'Together we are stronger.'
