Systems and policies in place to protect people from discrimination and abuse. Staff had received safeguarding training... Accidents and incidents had been recorded and analysed... Medicines were managed safely.

There was an open and transparent culture within the service. A relative told us, 'The staff are great. It is like one big family'.

Relatives and staff told us there were enough staff to meet people's needs. Duty rotas confirmed there were constant staffing levels. Permanent staff covered any sickness and annual leave.

Staff received training appropriate to their role... training to support people with health conditions such as diabetes, epilepsy and sepsis awareness. Staff received regular supervision and appraisals to develop their practice.

The registered manager had an 'open door' policy. Staff told us they felt supported by the registered manager, they could talk to them about any concerns they had.

The activities co-ordinator used the 'Daily Sparkle', resource pack... People took part in arts and crafts... singers and bands come in... organised two people to go on a boat trip.
