"Supportive management and a positive team culture, but agency staff use and basic activities hold it back."
Staff had been trained in safeguarding... effective arrangements in place for reviewing and investigating safeguarding incidents. Medicines Administration Records (MAR) were complete and legible. Weekly medicines audits were carried out.
Staff told us they enjoyed working at the home and they got on well with their colleagues. One staff member said, 'We work together as a team. Everyone is so kind.' Another commented, 'I think we work together like a family.'
There were enough staff to meet people's needs. People and staff told us this and our observations confirmed this. The home regularly used a dependency tool to review staffing levels.
Staff received a range of training courses that helped them meet people's specific needs including dementia awareness. Staff had supervision where they had opportunity to discuss their practice.
People, staff, relatives and professionals told us the management were approachable and supportive. One staff member said, 'I like the management. They are very supportive.'
The home had recruited a dedicated activities coordinator. The home carried out monthly activities audits... During the inspection the home sought people's views on extending activity provision to the weekends... game of bingo... choirs in over Christmas.
Staffing is adequate with enough staff most of the time, but they use some agency workers.
