People were protected from abuse because staff knew them well and understood their safeguarding responsibilities. Staff received training on how to recognise and report abuse and knew the processes to be followed to keep people safe. People were consistently supported to take positive risks in order to have maximum choice and control over their lives.

One staff member said, 'It is very nice working here. The managers are very responsive, they listen and get involved. They work with us and help. What a difference it makes.' Staff told us, 'We work together as friends and we work together as family.'

Enough suitably qualified and trained staff were deployed to meet people's needs and keep them safe. Staff had an incredibly good knowledge of the people they supported and were able to tell us about people's individual needs, wishes and goals.

Staff completed training which enabled them to deliver high-quality care and support to people with a range of needs which at times were complex. Staff were supported through regular supervision with the registered manager where their own development and training was discussed.

The manager's presence within the service was keenly and positively felt by staff and people; we observed them leading social activities, offering direct support, liaising with professionals and carrying out managerial tasks with empathy, professionalism and drive.

People had the opportunity to experience and benefit from a range of therapies at the service. Art therapy, eurythmy therapy and music therapy were provided to help people connect with their thoughts and with each other... Staff across the organisation were involved in research aimed at understanding how these therapies could benefit people with learning disabilities.
