Quality assurance processes had identified an increase in medicine errors. The registered manager reviewed and modified the service medicines procedures in response, which achieved an 80 per cent reduction in errors during the following six months.

Care staff consistently told us there were enough staff to keep people safe but sometimes thought they were too task driven and did not always have time to stay and engage in meaningful conversations with people.

The registered manager operated an effective system of training, competency assessments, supervision and appraisals. Staff consistently told us their training was very good.

The management team led by example and promoted a strong caring, person-centred culture where people and staff felt valued.

Arrangements for social activities were innovative, met people's individual needs, and followed best practice guidance to enable people to live as full a life as possible.
