The service was in breach of legal regulation in relation to the ways people’s medicines were safely managed. People’s medicines were not always stored or managed safely.
Staff worked well as a team which supported their wellbeing and there was good staff morale. Staff told us they were happy to return to work after time off.
Staffing levels were safe and supported staff to meet people’s needs in a timely manner. We received positive feedback form staff about staffing levels.
Staff were positive about the wide range of training they completed which supported them to meet people’s needs. Staff received regular support, supervision and appraisals.
The management team were passionate about their roles and regularly sought feedback from people, their relatives and staff with the aim of continuously improving the service.
A wide range of activities were available for people to join in with... Activities were personalised to people’s interests and life experiences. For example, one person was supported to visit a fishing museum.
Medication was not always stored or given out safely, like fridge too warm at times and missing double-checks on handwritten doses.
Some medicines were stored in the fridge however, on multiple occasions, records showed the fridge was above the required temperature... some hand-written medicine records had not been reviewed and signed by another member of staff.
Some risks to people were missed by managers, like not monitoring drinks enough for someone at risk of urine infections.
We found some risks had been overlooked. For example, one person was at risk of urine infections, and the risk of low fluid intake had not been assessed.
