Systems to ensure people were safe from possible hazards in the home were not always effective. Some staff were using unsafe manual handling techniques to support people.
Most staff spoke highly of the management team at Beech Hill Grange. Some staff said losing the long-term registered manager, who had left at the end of April 2024, had been difficult and this had impacted upon the morale of the staff team.
We saw adequate levels of staff during our visits. Staff appeared unhurried and we saw some positive and meaningful interactions between staff and people.
Not all staff had completed fire safety training. There had been no provision within the night care team to ensure those expected to lead in the event of a fire emergency could do so effectively.
At the time of our assessment there was no registered manager in post. An interim manager was in place, supporting the service whilst they awaited the newly recruited home manager.
