"A supportive culture and stable long-serving team, but gaps in staff training and weak safety reporting like unreported falls hold it back."
The provider remained in breach of the legal regulations relating to safe care and treatment... The provider did not always share concerns quickly and appropriately... we identified incidents where people had experienced unwitnessed falls that should have been reported to the CQC but were not... Audits of medicines management was not being conducted effectively.
Staff were positive about working at the service and told us they were supported and most of the team had worked at the service for a long time... Staff told us they felt confident speaking up and described managers as approachable and receptive to feedback.
Staff told us they felt staffing levels were adequate and that they supported one another during staff absences... most of the team had worked at the service for a long time.
We were not assured that all staff had completed the required training necessary... Training records showed that not all staff training was up to date. For example, 5 members of staff had not completed adult safeguarding training... 5 staff members had out-of-date medication administration training.
The provider had quality assurance systems in place, however these were not always effective as they did not always identify where improvements were needed so these could be addressed. For example audits of medicines management and fire safety was not always being conducted effectively.
The provider held monthly events where relatives were invited to join activities with their relative. For example, there was a Christmas dinner held at the service for people and their relatives in December, St Patrick day celebrations and an Easter Egg hunt.
Staff training has gaps with some missing updates on safeguarding and medication for years, so you may work alongside unskilled team members.
5 members of staff had not completed adult safeguarding training, with 1 staff member last completing this training in 2015. Additionally, 5 staff members had out-of-date medication administration training, with 2 having not received any since 2019.
Safety reporting is weak as unwitnessed falls were not always told to regulators, and medication checks are not done regularly.
we identified incidents where people had experienced unwitnessed falls that should have been reported to the CQC but were not... Staff told us they complete monthly medicines audit, however the last audit was conducted in November 2024.
Managers checks miss problems like training gaps and safety issues, so the workplace has ongoing risks that are not fixed promptly.
