Working at Barnfield

Staff described how much they loved working at Barnfield. Comments included 'I love coming to work, it feels more like fun than work.' and 'Everyone living at Barnfield is amazing, they really enjoy life to the full and I love supporting them.'

There were sufficient numbers of staff to support people to do the activities they wanted to do without rushing them. The registered manager considered what activities people wanted to do and adjusted staffing levels to match the needs.

Staff undertook an induction programme aligned to the Care Certificate. Staff were supported to refresh their knowledge and skills and take nationally recognised vocational qualifications. Staff also undertook specialist training, for example in supporting people with epilepsy.

The service was well-led by a registered manager who led a team of staff who worked well together to provide high quality care and support. Staff said they found the registered manager and senior staff approachable and easy to work with.

The home offered each person a weekly programme of activities which they had helped to choose, including swimming, art and craft, playing musical instruments, college, work, community events, fundraising, sensory room and garden.
