The provider had a strong proactive and positive culture of safety, based on openness and complete honesty. Staff actively listened to concerns about safety and thoroughly investigated and reported safety events.

Without exception, staff spoke highly of the support they had received from the provider both professionally and personally. One staff member told us “This is the best place I have worked. Management are so supportive.”

Staff received specific training people’s needs including around mental health, learning disabilities and autism as well as specific physical health needs. There were regular competency checks and supervisions to ensure staff continued to have the appropriate knowledge.

Leaders led by example and advocated for people and their staff team. Staff told us they were supported in their role and if they raised any concerns these would be listened to and acted upon.

The service had introduced “achievement rings” which were ring binders displays throughout the service and staff completed to recognise people’s achievements. There were monthly focus sessions for each person which focused on the previous month and to agree a plan for the coming month.
