Some fire doors which should have been locked, were left unlocked and therefore accessible to people. We observed 1 remote for an armchair with exposed electrical wires. On the first day of the inspection, we observed unlocked cupboards in the kitchenettes containing cleaning products.
Staff told us they did not always feel their well-being was effectively supported by the provider and management team. Staff told us they did not feel they could always speak freely during their supervisions, and some said they felt they could not support people as well as they wanted to because of this.
Staff told us they felt there were not enough of them working at the service. Comments included, “Most of the time we are short staffed… Most residents need more attention,” and “We are always busy (…) and worried about supporting people’s needs. (…) Some people need assisting with feeding and fluid. We can't be everywhere.”

We received mixed feedback from staff regarding the leadership and how accessible the management team was. Some staff told us they felt unsupported and found the management team not approachable. Comments included, “There is lack of communication,” “Managers don’t listen to the staff making staff stressed out and exhausted,”
A relative told us, “There are regular activities which the service provides. The visit of the Alpacas is always popular.”
