Working at Avon Valley Care Home

Staff were trained in safeguarding and understood their responsibility to protect people from avoidable harm and abuse. Risks to people's health and safety were assessed with guidance for staff to follow. Medicines were stored and administered safely.

Staff were enthusiastic and happy in their work. They felt supported within their roles. Staff described working together as a team.

There were sufficient numbers of staff to support people and to meet their needs. All shifts were covered by the current staff team with annual leave and sickness covered as overtime.

Per 2021 comprehensive inspection: Staff undertook an induction programme on commencing work at the home and received regular training. This included training about infection control, safeguarding adults, infection control and manual handling.

The registered manager and deputy lead demonstrated effective leadership skills within their roles. Their knowledge and commitment to the home, the people in their care and all staff members was without doubt of a high standard.

Per 2021 comprehensive inspection: There was an activities coordinator who led in the planning and organising of activities. There was a range of activities available which were personalised to people's interests.
