Risks to people's safety and welfare were assessed and managed appropriately. Staff received safeguarding training and were clear about their responsibilities in responding to and reporting any safeguarding concerns.
The service had a positive culture and staff felt respected, valued and supported. Staff were involved in the daily running of the service and felt respected.
There were enough staff to ensure people received safe care. We observed staff providing support and engaging in a meaningful and positive way. Relatives told us they had no concerns about staffing.
Per 2017 comprehensive inspection: staff were provided with and completed mandatory and specialist training in areas specific to the needs of people who used the service, for example, epilepsy and autism. Staff supervision records showed all staff had regular supervision and appraisal with their line manager.
Staff told us they attend regular team meetings where they were able to express their views and discuss any issues. One staff member told us 'They [managers] are always open to suggestions.'
Per 2017 comprehensive inspection: Community based activities included, hydrotherapy sessions, cinema visits, bowling, using adapted bikes in a local park, swimming, shopping, visiting pubs and clubs to meet friends. In house activities were mainly based on the development and maintenance of independent living skills for example, cookery and room management skills.
Some medications did not have clear instructions on when to give them, which could affect how well they work.
People did not always receive their medication as required. During the inspection we identified some people did not have instructions for medicines to be given at specific times.
Staffing is enough but nothing special, no details on low agency use or staff staying long-term.
