The home often has too few staff, leaving residents with just one carer when they need two, and relies on agency workers without the right skills.

We found due to staffing issues, some people were left with only 1 staff to support them, when they should have had 2 staff with them at all times. A relative also confirmed they had observed this during their visit.

Staff training is seriously out of date, with under 70% completion on must-have courses like seizure medication, restraints, and mental capacity.

Training compliance levels were lower than 70% for a number of courses, this included administering emergency medication such as buccal midazolam, learning disability training, first aid at work, Mental Capacity Assessment and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, diabetes and epilepsy awareness.

No permanent manager in place, recent changes have left the team without direction, and the on-call support does not work.

We were advised during the assessment the registered manager in post would not be returning to this home and measures were being put in place whilst a registered manager was recruited.
