There was a proactive and positive culture of safety based on openness and honesty. The Registered manager demonstrated they were open and transparent and learnt from any incidents, accidents or safeguarding events.
All staff we spoke with told us they enjoyed working in the service. One staff member said, 'I feel this is the best the home has been, I always leave work in a good mood.' Another said, 'We are a good and very supportive team, and feel we are valued by the management team.'
We observed there were sufficient staff to safely meet people’s needs... although there were busier times, there appeared to be sufficient staff available to safely support people.
Staff had received training to equip them in their roles and this was further strengthened by specific supervision meetings... Staff had recently had training with the local community nurse team on monitoring people's health needs.
There was a strong and visible management team who led by example and promoted learning. The registered manager and/or deputy manager were present in the home every day of the week.
The provider employed an activities member of staff who supported people with a variety of activities including arts and craft, reading books of their choice, film afternoon, music and entertainment. People were also supported to go into the community.
