People received safe care and support by staff trained to recognise signs of abuse and risk... Safe medicines practices were followed. Risks to people's safety were assessed and reviewed. Staff were pro-active in supporting people to take positive risks.

“Staff are the best I’ve come across, they work together as a team”, “They [staff] are amazing. You can see they are happy to work with people, it’s like a family environment here”. The culture in the home was friendly... like a large family.

The registered manager told us they used minimal agency staff to ensure continuity of care. Staff confirmed there were enough staff on duty to meet people’s needs. People were supported by staff who felt confident and competent. Staff turnover was low.

Staff received training that was relevant to their roles and responsibilities and this included regular support through supervision and appraisal to continuously learn and improve their working practice. “The training we get is really good and interesting”.

The service was outstandingly well-led by the registered manager and management team. “Our managers are so good, exceptionally caring, they listen and act upon any concerns or complaints”; “The registered manager is always here to support us”.

There was an exceptional and comprehensive activities programme in place that people told us they enjoyed. Staff actively encouraged people to take part in activities they enjoyed. Arrangements for social activities showed a creative approach.
