Medicines Administration Records (MARs) were accurately completed. However, we identified a medicines discrepancy for one person which was investigated by a senior support worker and registered manager on the day of the inspection. The outcome was a recording error.
Staff told us they felt part of a team. Feedback from staff included, 'I'm just so happy to work here for so many years. I learn a lot and want to carry on. I'm so proud' and 'They are a wonderful company and they support me.'
Many of the staff team had worked at the service many years which provided stability and reassurance to the people living at the service. The staff team worked together to ensure shifts were covered to avoid the use of agency staff.
Staff also received bespoke training which was tailored to supporting people living with both autism and mental health conditions... Staff were trained in MAPA (Management of Actual or Potential Aggression). This involved staff carrying out role-play scenarios.
The leadership of the home was exceptional. We found the registered manager and staff team shared a clear vision and very strong values. They led by example and were passionately committed to providing exceptional individualised care and support to people.
In May 2019, the service achieved accreditation by the National Autistic Society... People were supported to engage in a varied range of activities... drama therapy... farm visits... behavioural incidents improved.
